Yes, the cut-off time is 10 hours from the start of the race.
No! UltraTrax is designed to accommodate a broad range of abilities, from a casual walker to experienced runner. Even a beginner athlete can use our training program to prepare for the 14 or 28 mile trek.
There are many ways to train for an UltraTrax event. If you already walk or run on a regular basis, you’re off to a great start. For further guidance, please see here for our beginner and intermediate 10 week training schedules found on our homepage.
UltraTrax is timed, but it's not a competition. The goal is to achieve your own personal goals in an environment that’s meant to challenge your physical and mental capabilities, while being surrounded by an energetic group of fellow UltraTraxers.
Wear your normal workout clothes that will still feel comfortable after an all-day trek. Other recommendations include packing extra socks, sunscreen, snacks, and blister pads.
We will take care of you throughout the course! There will be toilets at regular intervals. Stations with water and a variety of snacks will be available every 2.5 miles. However, if you have any food allergies or can't hike without your "go to" snack, we recommend packing a few of those items.
The aid stations will provide:
Water and other drinks, e.g. electrolytes, energy drinks
Fruits, granola bars, protein bars, beef jerky, etc.
You won’t be disqualified for jogging or running sections—this is an endurance challenge, not a race. That said, UltraTrax is designed with walkers in mind, so we expect everyone to follow good trail etiquette:
Respect walkers first. Announce “On your left!” (or similar) before overtaking and wait until you have clear space to pass.
Pass only where it’s safe. If the trail narrows to single-track or feels crowded, slow to a walk and stay in line until it opens up again.
Keep the trail natural. Stay on the marked path; don’t step off-trail or cut switchbacks just to move ahead.
Share the vibe. If you’re weaving through dense groups, consider matching the walking pace for a bit so everyone can relax and enjoy the experience.
Following these guidelines keeps the course safe, preserves the environment, and ensures every participant—runner or walker—has an awesome day on the trail. Thanks for looking out for each other!
Not a problem! Your health and safety is our highest priority. We provide medical service along the route to assist with any physical issues you might experience.
We have staff stationed throughout the path who are regularly monitoring and walking every part of the course. If you cannot finish, one of our course directors will find you and shuttle you back to the finish line.
All routes are clearly marked and cell service is available throughout the course. You won’t get lost!
Refunds are not allowed. It is a rain or shine event and will only be rescheduled if weather conditions prove dangerous.
